Bio

Michael Abdullahi is the founder of Lifeshapes Foundation, social development enthusiast and the national Strategic Planning Head, International Organization for Business and Engineering (IOBE) Nigeria chapter. IOBE is a global network for business and engineering youth with its headquarters in Bangladesh and 13 other countries of the world.
He has over 7 years active experience working to promote education for sustainable development while interfacing with social business, NGOs, government both nationally and internationally, and has managed over 6 educational/youth development projects grant for children and youths in underserved communities across 3 geopolitical regions in Nigeria including north central, south south and south west Nigeria, summing up to the tune of $30,000 received from international partners.

He has academic and professional certifications from local and international institutions including, Federal University of Technology Minna(Nigeria), Staley School of Leadership, Kansas State University (USA), He is an alumni and first runner up OpenGov Social Impact Challenge(Nigeria), 2 Times recipient of The World Merit Impact Award(UK) and a Fellow at The Platform- Young Professional Bootcamp(Lagos).

Previously, Michael worked with a non-denominational faith based organization to advance peaceful coexistence among youths using education as a tool to promote peace among communities that were affected by the violence caused by the uprising of insurgency in northern Nigeria, and also promoting lifelong learning opportunities for young people, especially girls from this affected communities.

Served as a corp member under the National Youth Service Corps scheme(NYSC) which is a compulsory one year service to the nation as a young graduate in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State in south west Nigeria and during the one year, accomplished the followings;

Coordinated activities of the press club to improve students literacy.
Managed a 6-man committee to execute a business orientation and skill acquisition program for over 200 rural students.
Increased the number of students completing assignments on time by 40% by employing group studies initiatives.

Michael has volunteered as an early childhood playground instructor with OAK Foundation an NGO based in Nigeria and in partnership with the Edo State Government in collaboration with Play360, an organization based in the US, in piloting the first ever creative learning low-cost playground built in Edo state, south south Nigeria for school children to strengthen over 1000 childhood education as an extension on the classroom.
Led and trained 50 selected school teachers from southern Nigeria on how to build creative learning low-cost playgrounds so as to foster collaboration, creativity, innovation and social skills among school children.Creative playgrounds get children excited about going to school and staying in school because the playground is a catalyst for real community change. He has also volunteered for several other nonprofit organizations, Including UNICEF and Coderdojo in Nigeria.

Through these experiences, he developed strong project coordination and implementation skills, fundraising, writing winning grants and business proposals, public speaking, research etc. Michael enjoys focusing on creating sustainable solutions in the area of education and he is passionate about youth development in Nigeria and Africa.
