"Today, volunteer strongmen Oliver and Ben built a stone bench seat on the north boundary of the park. We will have kids in town build stone cairns on each end for creative flair. We have the perennials ready to plant as soon as we get some more soil to build the beds along the park perimeter. The tree planting will take place in late summer or early fall. We also plan to have a park sign, more stonework, and more plantings as they become available. Our hard work and patience are coming to fruition. The Recreation Commission will be hosting an outdoor Movie Night the first week in August in the park! We simply can't wait!"
"Wow, a lot has happened since we leveled, seeded, fertilized, and mulched the new green in our park! The hot, dry weather of June made the grass growing a bit more challenging, but with diligent watering, then some rain and patience it has come together well. My next post includes more exciting details, too!"
"Our park green space has now been seeded, fertilized, and mulched! We hope that in a month's time the grass will be up and looking beautiful! Following that, perhaps small groupings of folks can again gather at the tables and benches and enjoy the outdoors at a safe distance. Then by the latter half of the summer, maybe we can even host small gathering events again. Regardless of the pandemic, the space will soon be in good enough shape for folks to sit quietly, read, contemplate, use the wifi, etc. We brought the benches down and set them up just outside the seeding boundary so folks can enjoy them now. 2020 is Puddledock Park's year!"
"Despite the cool April, some unwelcomed snowy weather, and of course the COVID-19 pandemic, the planning for our park forges onward! In fact, we think the park might serve us all well by summer if restrictions are loosened to allow small gatherings at a safe distance in an outdoor setting! This past Saturday we had the park area raked and prepped for fertilizing and seeding. In another week or 2 it should be seeded in a 3-step process. This photo shows the space ready for step #2!"
